An opinion is easy to publish. A market price puts money behind it. Basis turns sportsbook markets into fantasy projections, then puts the expert comparison and football research in your hands. Know what went into the number. Back your call.
Basis builds fantasy-point projections from sportsbook player-prop markets. A player prop is a market on a player’s individual statistics — for example, a receiver’s receiving yards or a quarterback’s passing touchdowns. Basis compares its market-derived projections with FantasyPros projected points and expert consensus rankings so you can see where they agree and where they don’t.
Back to top ↑Each player’s projection is built from the individual stat markets available for them — priced components with direct market support. Where a component isn’t directly priced, Basis may derive or model it from related markets instead; those rows are explicitly labelled Derived or Modeled rather than presented as if they were priced. Not every player has market support for every component, and Basis says so rather than inventing a number.
Back to top ↑FantasyPros projected points are that source’s own point projection, published under its own scoring assumptions. The FantasyPros expert consensus rank is an ordinal rank, not a point total. Basis compares points against points and rank against rank; it does not convert one into the other, and it does not claim points and rank measure the same thing.
Back to top ↑The reception setting (Standard, Half PPR or PPR), passing-touchdown value (4 or 6 points) and turnover penalties (interceptions thrown, fumbles lost) all change the points total. Basis projections can be rescored to your settings when the underlying components support it. Published FantasyPros expert rank is fixed at its source scoring and does not get rescored to your settings — Basis shows the source scoring basis and will suppress or qualify a rank comparison it can’t honestly support, independently of whether the points comparison is available. Rank comparisons also depend on using a matching population (for example, FLEX vs. FLEX) rather than mixing positional and overall views.
Back to top ↑Source age is the exact elapsed time since a contributing market last repriced — never a vague “updated recently.” Market depth is the number of sportsbooks contributing to a stat, shown as a source count; it describes how many prices went into a number, not how confident Basis is or a claim that more sources means a more accurate one. An unavailable state means Basis currently has no supported way to produce that number for that player, shown explicitly rather than substituted with a stale or estimated value.
Back to top ↑Start with the split between Basis and FantasyPros. Check the scoring, then dig into workload, role, matchup, and the latest news. The gap identifies a disagreement; the analysis builds your case for a start/sit call or trade. Keep the observed numbers and your football judgment distinct so you can revisit the call when the inputs change.
